III International Congress On Comparative Studies Violence and Violence Campina Grande - Paraíba - Brazil 07 to 09 August, 2007
PRESENTATIONAIMComparative theories have played and will continue to play a major role in crossing the geographical, historical, national and international boundaries. If on the one hand, they have acted as the medium for the study of a number of different subjects, on the other hand they have responded to the growing concern over the necessity to maintain the distinctiveness. That is to say that many cultures have been trying to define their identities, not only in linguistic terms but also in social, ethnic, national and geographical features and comparative study has offered the tool to do so without losing their individual identity by offering contrast or similarities. As Mathew Arnold has said ‘Everywhere there is a connection’ this Conference aims at providing a forum for the discussion of this connection that links several features of different areas from a comparative perspective. It also aims to provide an opportunity for scholars and researchers from various field of knowledge to share/ exchange knowledge and research findings in the area of comparative studies.
Thematic Topics The congress is open to any topic where one sees violence or violation of any sort (ethical, moral, physical or psychological) and which offers an opportunity to compare the situation, concept, theme in any field of study.
